Gone Rogue Productions: 'Strawberries in January', an uplifting comedy for the Edinburgh Fringe

Strawberries in January is a sharp romantic comedy that follows four young twenty-somethings trying to find their way in life and love. When Francois meets professor Robert while working in the coffee shop, he decides to set him up with ex-girlfriend Sophie. Meanwhile, Lea is back in town, determined to find her childhood pen-pal – but ends up finding a few more familiar faces than she expected. Heart-warming and with an intelligent comic voice, Strawberries unfolds the characters’ memories to tell their stories, and provides a touching look into their lives.

why do we need your Help?

As can be seen below, our largest cost is venue hire, but it's not the only expensive part of the production. Taking a show to Edinburgh is an enormous financial commitment, but every Fringe is a unique, once in a lifetime experience for everyone involved. With ever decreasing support for the arts, the opportunity to perform at one of the world's biggest theatre festivals is really exciting, and with your support we can do that! We really want to make our performance the best it can be so we're seeking funding from lots of different sources including this crowdfunding project! Your donation is another vital way we can reach our overall goal. Any and all pledges  are really important to us; the more money we raise, the better we can make our production!

Breakdown of costs

- Venue hire (2 and a half weeks): £3300
- Performance rights: £1440
- Fringe affiliation: £400
- Publicity: £430
- Set and props: £50
- Costumes: £50

We've got some brilliant rewards up for grabs, both for people at home and for people coming up to Edinburgh! Please get involved and pledge to help us out! Even if you can't afford to make a donation, we'd really appreciate it if you could let other people know about our campaign and ask them to donate: every little helps!

Our production team will also be taking part in forfeits when we reach fundraising milestones, so if you'd like to see one of us wear a boiler suit full of beans or shaving one leg, please follow us for those announcements!

*If you choose a reward which includes a shoutout on Twitter, please message us with your username or post on here once you've pledged so that we can tag you! For free tickets, please get in touch with a member of the production team so that we can arrange delivery in Edinburgh or back in Southampton next year!

We've officially made it past the halfway point! Thank you so much to everyone who's already donated to us, you have made an enormous difference! For those of you following our progress, here's a small update on what we've been up to in rehearsal (we've done some acting too, honest!)

We're still a long way off our final target, so to sweeten the deal our cast and production team will be performing forfeits as we hit milestones! We'll be uploading videos here as we reach our targets so you get to enjoy our humiliation!

Even if you can't donate to us, or you've already sponsored us, please share our campaign as much as you can- we really appreciate it!
