Pure dance 2020
Union of Southampton Dance (USD) are raising £3000 to help fund our annual dance show Pure Dance, which will take place at the Nuffield Theatre, Southampton on 6th and 7th March 2020. Pure Dance is an amazing opportunity for dancers of all abilities, from beginners to advanced performers, to perform and showcase all their hard work!
What is usd?
USD is made up of 16 different dance societies, all with different styles of dance, meaning there is something for everyone. Throughout the academic year, there are many opportunities to dance, with weekly classes, inter-university dance competitions and Pure Dance.
OUR story
Pure Dance is organised entirely by students and brings together 13 of our dance societies. It's so important to USD as it gives all dancers an amazing opportunity to perform on a professional stage. The rehearsals also help to build physical fitness and give all our dancers a chance to switch off from concerns about assignments and exams, giving everyone chance to de-stress.
Pure Dance also collaborates with other Southampton University societies, who do the technical and stage management, and photography for the event, giving them the opportunity to be involved in a big event and showcase their talents.
Where will the money GO?
In order for Pure Dance to be showcased there are many components involved including the following approximate costs:
- Venue Hire: £4754.60
- Commission: £380
- Tech (including lighting for the show): £2500
- Programmes: £200
- Photography: £255
- Pure Dance t-shirts: £300
In total, Pure Dance approximately costs around £8500 per year. The money we make from ticket sales helps us to afford this, but we are looking to raise £3000 to help cover the rest!
Reaching our target would mean that we would have more money more left over from our own funds to put towards other USD events, such as the dance competitions, providing further opportunities to dance for our members.
